Use Artist - Title to include an artist, then check the recording.
How to use the Similar Song Finder
Start with a specific song rather than a broad genre. Type its title in the search field above, or enter the artist and title separated by a spaced dash, such as Artist - Title. A full Spotify track link can identify a recording when the name is short or hard to spell. Search results show the song title, artist, and duration so you can confirm what you meant. Selecting a result sets your starting song; it does not yet ask for recommendations.
Choose Find similar songs after confirming the recording. The page then shows available recommendations as cards with titles and artists. You can request a short preview where one is available, or choose Find similar on a card to explore from that song instead. If you want to begin again, use Change song. This sequence gives you control over the reference recording and each next step, without uploading an audio file or creating a site account.
Choose the recording you actually know
A song title alone can refer to several recordings. A studio release, live performance, acoustic version, remix, and cover may share much of the same name while sounding quite different. Before choosing a search result, compare its artist with the performer you have in mind. Duration can provide another clue, especially when an extended mix and a shorter release appear together. These checks are useful even when the first result looks familiar: you are choosing a recording, not simply a title.
If several artists use the same title, add the artist to your query. Use the name shown on the release when possible, rather than a nickname. For a collaboration, searching with the main credited artist may be easier than entering every performer. If you already have a Spotify track link, paste that complete link instead of reconstructing the name. Playlist, album, shortened sharing links, and links from other services are not supported song-identification inputs here.
What makes two songs feel similar?
Listeners can hear a connection for different reasons: a steady groove, a bright vocal sound, a sparse arrangement, or a mood that suits the same moment. A recommendation may appeal to you without repeating the reference song's melody. Decide which quality you want to carry into your next discovery. If it is the energy of the chorus, a quiet song by the same artist may be less useful than a lively track by somebody new. If it is the atmosphere, the opposite may be true.
Recommendations come from Last.fm and are based on listening data. They are listening suggestions, not measurements of matching melody, lyrics, tempo, or language. Search uses the iTunes catalog, and some recordings have no Last.fm recommendations. No similarity percentage is displayed.
Follow a recommendation into a new direction
You do not have to explore every card before moving on. When one title or artist catches your attention, use that card as the next starting point. This is helpful when your original favorite is familiar but you want to move toward a different sound. Each step is a new recommendation request, not a saved branch of earlier searches. Note interesting titles separately if you want to compare them later; the tool does not create or save a playlist in your music account.
For a focused search, keep one listening goal in mind for a few rounds. For a more varied search, deliberately change the reference when the suggestions begin to feel too familiar. A different recording can open another route through the catalog, although it does not guarantee a wholly different list. Changing the starting point is more useful than repeatedly requesting recommendations for the same recording and expecting new results every time.
Listen to available short previews
Select Listen to expand the page's player. When a matching preview is available, its play and pause button, position control, and volume control let you check a short excerpt without leaving the page. The player shows the preview source and a store link beside the controls. When available, the duration on a recommendation card describes the full recording; the player's duration describes the actual excerpt. A short preview is therefore not a way to play the whole track here.
Some recordings have no matching preview, and an unavailable excerpt does not mean the recommendation itself is invalid. The player will show an unavailable message rather than substitute a different recording. If your browser does not start playback after the preview loads, press Play. Switching songs or closing the preview stops the earlier audio. Use excerpts to check whether an artist or sound interests you, then follow the displayed source link for the underlying release. This page does not offer audio downloads.
Find candidates for a playlist or listening session
For a commute, workout, study session, or evening with friends, start with a song that already suits the situation. Compare suggestions against that use rather than trying to select everything that appears. A recognizable chorus can matter for a party; a restrained arrangement may matter more for background listening. Short previews provide an initial impression, but listen to the full release through its available source before deciding how it fits your sequence. An excerpt cannot reveal every change later in a song.
Keep a small shortlist with the title and artist of each candidate. Then check how adjacent songs feel together, allowing for differences in energy and arrangement. Recommendation order is not a ready-made DJ set or a guarantee of smooth transitions. If you need exact musical information for mixing, examine audio you have permission to use with a dedicated analysis tool. Finding an existing song does not create a license to use it in a video, sample it, or distribute a copy.
When a search returns no songs
First check the spelling, remove extra descriptive words, and try the release title rather than a lyric remembered from the chorus. Text search accepts titles of two or more characters. A Spotify track link is optional. If a title exists in more than one writing system, try the spelling used on the release. A supported link can resolve ambiguity, but the recording still needs to be present in the recommendation provider's catalog. Catalog coverage is not a promise that every song will be found.
If a recording resolves but produces no recommendations, choose another version or a different starting song. If the page reports a temporary error or asks you to wait, allow the request to finish or pause before retrying. Search and preview availability depend on external catalog services; repeated rapid requests can encounter limits. Your search query is sent to the site and its catalog provider to retrieve results. The tool does not identify unknown music from an uploaded clip, a humming recording, or a microphone.
Compare the rhythm of your discoveries
While listening to a candidate, you can tap along to estimate its BPM and compare its pace with your reference. Tap tempo follows the beats you enter; it does not analyze the recommendation automatically.
If you have an audio file you are allowed to use, check its musical key and BPM before planning a mix. This is a separate file-analysis step, not a filter built into these recommendations.
Similar Song Finder questions
How do I find songs similar to one I like?
Search for the song, confirm its artist and recording, then choose Find similar songs. You can use any recommendation as another starting point to explore further.
Is this song finder free and can I use it without signing up?
Yes, searching and requesting recommendations on this page requires no site account or credits. Request limits can apply, so wait before retrying if the page asks you to pause.
Which song links can I paste?
Use a full open.spotify.com track link or a spotify:track URI. Album links, playlists, shortened links, and arbitrary links from other services are not supported.
Can I hear the full song or download it here?
The page plays available short previews, not full recordings, and provides no audio download. The player identifies the preview source and links to the underlying release.
Why does a recommended song have no preview?
A matching excerpt may not be available, or the preview service may be temporarily unavailable. You can still explore recommendations from that song; an unavailable preview does not invalidate its catalog entry.
Can I upload a recording or hum a tune to find similar songs?
This tool starts from a known song title or supported track link. It does not accept audio uploads or microphone recordings for music identification.
